About East Durham Lions
Bringing a passion for basketball to all ages in County Durham, from juniors to seniors, from experienced players to those just starting their basketball journey and everyone in between!
Established in Peterlee in 1979 East Durham Lions launched its junior program in 2016 and has gone from strength to strength winning the BE Community Club of the Year (North East) 2019.
In 2025 the club was proud to enter its first Senior team in the Basketball England NBL D3 with nearly all the players having graduated through its own junior program.
Under the guidance of Chairman John Harding and Head Coach David Wylie the club continues to grow and attained Level 1 accreditation from Basketball England.
All the coaching team are volunteers and all hold current BE qualifications in coaching along with the relevant DBS and Safeguarding requirements from the sports governing body.
